Gibson ES345 Stereo – 1967

SERIAL NUMBER: 892586

DATE: 1967

Steve Howe loves his, and used it as his main stage instrument with super group Yes for many years, along with his trusty ES175 which he used on all the earlier tracks. This instrument is in good company, but more easily differentiated from its ubiquitous sibling the ES 335 with its 6 position switch and ‘STEREO’ inscripted bell truss rod cover. The Stereo Circuitry was designed by Walt Fuller, who was the pickup and circuitry whizz at Gibson at the time, and its stereo capability was truly revolutionary at the time – only Rickenbacker was the other guitar company that seriously played with the idea of stereo advancements around the same era. This walnut beauty is in fine condition and you can see why Gibson survived at the top of the heap for so many years in such a competitive and creative market with this example -the look, the feel, the innovation.
