GIBSON J160E – 1972

SERIAL NUMBER: 677061
DATE: 1972

Around since 1954, the J160E was the Beatles acoustic guitar of choice, and was played by both John
Lennon and George Harrison. Cherry sunburst and ready to rock.

The world was going electric, and this was a Gibson stab at getting an electric sound out of an
acoustic guitar.

The single coil pickup and separate tone/volume setup on an acoustic was pretty radical thinking for
those times, but turned out to be a winner nonetheless ( do you think the Beatle connection may
have helped a little? )

The J160E was in constant production until 1979, proof of its commercial success.

This 1972 example is in very nice condition, and even its typical 70`s low jumbo frets are in really
good shape.
